Jamie Shafer (jamieos) > A facsimile copy of the Lindifarne Gospels, the original of which is in the British Museum. The volume was photographed on Cuthbert's tomb, but usually resides in the church museum where we were allowed to turn a few pages. This book is itself rare as the printing was enormously expensive and only a relative few were made. The Lindidfarne Gospels were saved from the Viking sea raiders and brought to Durham for safekeeping as was the coffin and remains of St. Cuthbert
