Jamie Shafer (jamieos) > This photo was scanned from a small picture which was part of a postcard "album" sold by a street vendor. This is St. John's Co-Cathdral, ecclesiastical seat of the Knights of St. John of Malta, an order of powerful warrior monks in the middle ages and later. Most of the subsequent photos of the cathedral interior are also scanned postcards, as the interior was way too dark for a hand-held camera without flash.
Jamie Shafer (jamieos) > The entire floor of the interior of the Cathedral is paved with inlaid marble tombstones commemorating members and prelates of the order. The walls deeply modeled plaster, painted an dark gray with details accentuated with gold leaf. Very awe inspiring!
